HAZ GOMEZ, Francisco Eduardo. SOCIAL CAPITAL OF ACCESS: INEQUALITY AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH THEIR SOCIAL NETWORKS. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2017, vol.1, n.17, pp.56-68. ISSN 2528-7907.

Social capital along with Economic Capital and Cultural Capital are three elements that allow us to research social inequality. At the same time, Social Capital is the element through which social networks connect actors with resources (goods or services). However, this kind of capital lacks an empirical model that defines and allows its measurement. For this reason, this research assumes two challenges, the proposal of an empirical model and its application in a study on inequality of Social Capital. Robert Putnam (2002) states that community institutions (cultural associations, sports clubs, foundations, schools, etc.) provide its members with higher levels of social capital. Consequently, affiliation in a community institution can explain the existence of different levels of social capital among members and non-members. This article follows this hypothesis by demonstrating the influence of the university (community institution) over the inequality in Access Social Capital (social network extension) among two groups of young people (university students and non-university ones).
