Abstract

ARIAS, Diego; GAVELA, Patricia  and  RIOFRIO, Jonathan. State-of-the-Art: Incentives and Strategies for Penetration of Renewable Energy. Revista Técnica energía [online]. 2022, vol.18, n.2, pp.91-103. ISSN 2602-8492.  https://doi.org/10.37116/revistaenergia.v18.n2.2022.494.

In recent years, several countries around the world have been promoting initiatives to include Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Resources in their generation systems to replace conventional thermal energy as a measure of action against the adverse effects of climate change. However, such actions usually find barriers or limitations for its implementation, so the analysis of incentive mechanisms and the evaluation of the experience worldwide is essential to continue the incorporation process of these resources. This article presents a comprehensive review of the state of the art about the incentives and strategies for the penetration of Non-Conventional Renewable Energies (NCRE). The integration mechanisms implemented in different regions around world are detailed and analyzed. For this purpose, the common definitions and the most used incentive mechanisms are described. Also, the evolution of this type of technologies in some regions is presented as well as the analysis of their barriers and limitations. Finally, some required recommendations are proposed to overcome these drawbacks.

Keywords : Non-conventional renewable energy - NCRE; Incentives; Energy Policy; Auction; Feed in Tariff; LCOE.
