INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

General guidelines

KAIRÓS publishes only original theoretical and practical research papers related to economic, administrative, accounting, legal, tourism and communication issues. Submissions are accepted in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese. Translations of previously published articles are not accepted.

Article reception is open and continuous. Manuscripts may be submitted through the journal OJS platform (https://kairos.unach.edu.ec) or by e-mail to kairos@unach.edu.ec.

Before submission, the manuscript file must not contain author names or personal data, in order to guarantee blind review.

Submission documents and requirements

In addition to the manuscript, all required documents must be duly completed and submitted: cover page, commitment letter and academic data.

  • Works must be unpublished and must not be under simultaneous consideration by another publication.

  • The file must be in Microsoft Word format.

  • The manuscript must be presented in A4 format, 2.5 cm margins, 1.5 line spacing, justified text, Arial 12 font and single column.

  • The minimum length is 4,000 words and the maximum is 8,000 words, including figures, tables and references. The Editorial Committee may approve exceptions.

  • All authors must provide their ORCID and register the name under which they publish in IRALIS.

Manuscript structure

The manuscript must include, as appropriate, title, abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusions and references. Reflection articles do not need to differentiate methods, results and discussion.

The title must be descriptive and cover the content of the work. It must be written in uppercase, bold and centered; the English title must appear on the following line, uppercase, centered and not bold.

The abstract must not exceed 800 characters including spaces. It should briefly describe the introduction, methodology, results, discussion and relevant conclusions. It must not include tables, references, numbers or mathematical expressions. It must be presented in the language of the manuscript and in English.

Keywords must be between three and five, separated by commas, in the language of the manuscript and in English.

Types of articles

  • Original research: quantitative or qualitative studies in economic, administrative, accounting, socio-legal and communication fields.

  • Literature reviews: bibliometric studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses and meta-syntheses on relevant and current topics. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are encouraged to follow PRISMA.

  • Reflection: documents presenting completed research results from an analytical, interpretative or critical perspective, using original sources. This includes monographic or doctrinal studies and case-law comments.

Citations, references, tables and figures

References must be included at the end of the article under the heading “References”, following APA seventh edition style. The list is ordered alphabetically by author and, for each author, chronologically from oldest to most recent.

The reference list must correspond exactly to the citations included in the text. At least 70% of the references should preferably be sources published within the last five years, prioritizing articles indexed in recognized databases.

Tables, figures, graphs and illustrations must be strictly necessary, self-explanatory, and must include units of measurement, notes and source. Figures must also be submitted in JPG or PNG format with acceptable quality.

Review and final proof

The review process ranges from three to six months. Once reviewed and approved by blind peer reviewers, the article will be edited in PDF. Before publication, each author will receive a final PDF proof, which must be approved before publication.
