KAIRÓS, journal of economic, legal and administrative sciences (ISSN: 2631-2743), is a biannual open-access academic journal published by the Faculty of Political and Administrative Sciences of the National University of Chimborazo (Ecuador). Its aim is to disseminate the results of research and academic work developed at national and international universities and research centers.

The journal is addressed to professionals, academics, researchers, students and others interested in social and behavioral sciences, especially economics, administration, legal sciences and law.

KAIRÓS considers for publication original and unpublished academic articles related to political, economic, legal, administrative, accounting, communication and tourism issues, presented as theoretical or applied contributions. Priority is given to works focused on Ecuadorian and Latin American problems.

Submissions are preliminarily evaluated by the editor according to standards of academic quality, relevance and originality. Manuscripts that meet these requirements are submitted to anonymous national or international peer review under a double-blind method.

At the editor's discretion, the journal may also publish methodological notes, book reviews and brief comments on published articles, together with the response of the author(s) of the original article.

KAIRÓS is an open-access journal. All content is available free of charge to users and their institutions. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any lawful purpose under the applicable license.

The journal does not charge article processing or publication fees and does not establish embargo periods.

Published articles are distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

Each submitted article is evaluated by anonymous reviewers under a double-blind peer review methodology. Reviewers are academics with broad experience and recognition in the field under evaluation and are preferably international and external to the publishing institution.

The editorial team first evaluates whether the manuscript meets the journal's basic requirements regarding length, abstract, citation standards, formal presentation, thematic relevance and academic quality. Contributions that pass this stage are then sent for peer review.

Reviewers may recommend publication without observations, publication with major modifications, or rejection. In case of controversy, an additional review may be requested. Evaluation results are communicated to the author within approximately three months after receipt of the article.

The journal publishes biannually, with two issues under one annual volume, covering January-June and July-December. Issues are published at the beginning of each declared period, in January and July.

KAIRÓS follows international standards in publication ethics, including the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), editorial best practices and transparency mechanisms in scientific publication.

The journal adheres to the CRediT initiative (Contributor Role Taxonomy), so that authors can accurately identify and describe their contributions.

KAIRÓS uses the Compilatio automated system to detect possible plagiarism in submitted manuscripts. All articles are reviewed with this method, accepting a maximum similarity of 10%.

The journal accepts the use of artificial intelligence by authors only when the tool used, the sections in which it was used and the corresponding citation are expressly declared. If artificial intelligence is used and not declared, the article will be rejected.

KAIRÓS is included or visible in academic indexes, networks and services such as Latindex Catálogo 2.0, Redalyc, Actualidad Iberoamericana, Google Scholar, REDIB, MIAR, LatinREV, BASE and CLASE.

The journal has digital storage and preservation mechanisms. Its Open Journal Systems website is compatible with LOCKSS and CLOCKSS, systems designed to guarantee permanent and secure archiving. All published articles have a DOI identifier.

KAIRÓS is an academic and editorial project of the National University of Chimborazo, Faculty of Political and Administrative Sciences, the institution that provides material and financial support for the publication of the journal.
