Open Access Policy

The articles and research published by UTE University are made available in electronic format under an Open Access regime. By submitting an article to any of the scientific journals of UTE University, including the Economics and Business Journal, the author or authors accept these conditions.

UTE University applies the Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) license to the articles in its scientific journals. Under this open-access license, as an author, you agree that anyone can reuse your article in whole or in part for any purpose, free of charge, even for commercial purposes. Anyone can copy, distribute, or reuse the content as long as the author and the original source are properly cited. This facilitates the freedom of reuse and also ensures that the content can be extracted without barriers for research needs.

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License

Furthermore, the Economics and Business Journal guarantees and declares that the authors always retain all copyright and publishing rights to their original works without restrictions [© The Authors]. The attribution (by) license implies that any use of the work is allowed, including commercial purposes, as well as the creation of derivative works, the distribution of which is also permitted without any restrictions.

Can I use someone else's content in my article?

If you have written permission to do so, yes. If your manuscript contains content such as photos, images, figures, tables, audio files, videos, etc., of which you or your co-authors are not the owners, we will require you to demonstrate that the owner of that content: (a) has given you written permission to use it, and (b) has approved the application of the CC-BY license to your content.

If you do not have permission from the owner, we will ask you to remove that content and/or replace it with other content that you own or have permission to use. Do not assume that you can use any content you find on the Internet or that the use of content is fair just because it is not clear who the owner is or what license applies. It is up to you to find out what rights you have, if any, to use that content.

Can I use the content of the article I previously published in another journal?

Many authors assume that if they previously published an article through another publisher, they own the rights to that content and can freely use it in their articles for UTE scientific journals, but that is not necessarily the case. The reuse of content from a previous article depends on the license covering it. Some publishers allow free and unrestricted reuse of the content they own, as is the case under the CC-BY license. Other publishers use licenses that permit reuse only if the same license is applied by the person or editor reusing the content.

If the document was published under a CC-BY license or another license that allows free and unrestricted use, you can use the content in your UTE article as long as you provide the appropriate attribution, as explained earlier.

If the content was published under a more restrictive license, you must determine what rights you have under that license. At a minimum, review the license to ensure that you can use the content. Contact the editor if you have any questions about the license terms. UTE staff cannot provide legal advice regarding your rights to use third-party content. If the license does not allow you to use the content in a document that will be covered by an unrestricted license, you must obtain written permission from the editor to use the content in the article you submit for consideration by UTE scientific journals. Do not include any content in your article for which you do not have usage rights and always provide proper attribution.

What licenses are acceptable for data repositories?

If any relevant accompanying data is submitted to repositories with established usage licenses, the policies should not be more restrictive than CC-BY.

Removal of content used without clear rights?

UTE reserves the right to remove any photo, screenshot, image, figure, table, illustration, audio and video files, and similar content from any article, either before or after publication, if there is reason to believe that the content was included in the article without the permission of the content owner.
