The present article proposes a methodology for the planning and control of the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance of subtransmission lines through the implementation of the method of Gravity, Urgency and Trend "GUT" that will allow to define priorities for the attention of problems caused in subtransmission lines.

The proposal of the types of maintenance in subtransmission lines is also shown, according to the information available from the ARCONEL, the infrastructure of the electricity sector referring to subtransmission lines and a catalog of causes of interruptions are identified, the responsibilities of the operation and maintenance of subtransmission lines both in the Quito Electric Company and in the Central North Regional Electric Company as well as the maintenance activities carried out in the subtransmission lines.
