The study of gender stereotypes is a topic of discussion in various scientific disciplines and social and institutional frameworks due to its relevance in both discourse and everyday practices. Its analysis in relation to motherhood and fatherhood in the university context is important, as this becomes a space for socialization and learning to reproduce or reconstruct traditional models. The objective of the research was to describe the gender stereotypes associated with motherhood and fatherhood at the Marta Abreu Central University of Las Villas, Cuba. The qualitative paradigm was followed, and a constructive, interpretive qualitative research approach was employed. The sampling was intentional by quotas, and the sample consisted of 80 participants of both genders. An online questionnaire was used to collect the information, which was then qualitatively analyzed using ATLAS.ti tool. The results revealed stereotypes that reproduce the equality-inequality contradiction in motherhood and fatherhood based on descriptive and prescriptive dimensions, with a predominance of traits and roles. The content of the stereotypes is primarily related to the descriptive dimension and the association of traits with mothers and the roles that fathers are expected to fulfill.
