ESPINOZA SOTELO., Joan Carlos; ANGULO ADRIANZEN., Susana Geraldine  y  PURIZACA ESTEVEZ., Brisa Araceli Claver. Academic stress as a motivator for studies: its relationship in university students from Villa el Salvador, Peru. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2025, vol.1, n.61, pp.40-45. The relationship between academic stress and motivation in university students is a key topic for understanding their academic performance. This study aimed to identify the relationship between academic stress and motivation among students at a private university in Villa San Salvador, Peru. The research was correlational in nature, employing a non-experimental design with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 159 students. The SISCO Inventory of Academic Stress, adapted to the Peruvian context, and the MAPE 3 - M questionnaire were used to measure motivation. Both instruments were validated by experts, and their reliability was determined using Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient. The research results revealed a significant positive correlation between academic stress and motivation, with a correlation coefficient of .853. Additionally, significant correlations were observed between the dimensions of academic stress and motivation: stress-inducing stimuli (rho = .785), systematic imbalance (rho = .786), and coping strategies (rho = .799). The study concluded that there is a significant relationship between the variables, underscoring the importance of further research on these factors within the Peruvian university context.
