Resumen
ARPI BARAZORDA, Evelyn Naire et al. Academic Stress in Health Behavior in University Students of Metropolitan Lima. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2024, vol.1, n.58, pp.78-86. ISSN 2528-7907. https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v1i58.2508.
University students are commonly subjected to stressful situations that have a direct and indirect impact on the development of healthy behaviors. This research aims to determine the influence of academic stress on health behavior in students at a university center in Metropolitan Lima. A non-experimental, quantitative and correlational study was carried out, where the Health Behavior Questionnaire in Young University Students (CEV-JU) and the SISCO-21 Inventory of academic stress were applied to 708 students. The results showed that stress symptoms, coping strategies and stressors were significantly associated with health behavior at a general level and some dimensions. Likewise, it was found that the predictors of the most significant health behavior outcomes were coping strategies and symptom dimensions. This shows the importance of designing and applying programs and interventions aimed at adequately managing stress to promote healthy habits in university students.
