Worldwide, student permanence is an important factor in generating strategies that contribute to reducing the dropout rate and guaranteeing the successful completion of students' academic processes. The objective of the investigative work is to analyze the socioeconomic conditions and the permanence of students in the Dentistry career at the San Gregorio de Portoviejo University. The research was directed with a positivist approach and used the quantitative correlational method, a sample of 292 students was considered, to whom a virtual survey was applied and the Google Forms form and a questionnaire with a Likert scale were used. For data analysis, version 25.0 of the computer statistical software IBM SPSS v25 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) was used. According to the descriptive and inferential statistical procedure, it was determined that the results show a Pearson correlation of .495 between the variables socioeconomic condition and permanence. The Pearson correlation is a coefficient that measures the strength and direction of the relationship between two variables. The p value associated with this correlation is .000, indicating that the correlation is statistically significant. This means that there is a moderate positive relationship between the variables socioeconomic condition and permanence.
