Resumen
LUSARDI, Giada. Estiaje: Juana Córdova, Irina Liliana García y Pamela Suasti. Índex [online]. 2025, n.20, pp.60-67. ISSN 2477-9199. https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v10i20.649.
In this collective exhibition, Juana Córdova, Irina Liliana García, and Pamela Suasti work from different regions in Ecuador in a creative dialogue shaped by Estiaje —the seasonal recession of rivers— which also becomes a metaphor for waiting, fragility, and care. Using gathered materials such as wool, seeds, leaves, branches, and honey, and techniques that require presence and time —like weaving, botanical printing, or hand-molding— the artists experiment with collaborative modes of creation that challenge individual boundaries. In this process, they allow themselves to intervene in each other’s works, as in an exquisite corpse, embracing the unexpected. Landscape, the body, and vegetal life intertwine in a poetic that explores the tension between the intimate and the collective, the ephemeral and the vital, opening a sensitive reflection on our relationship with nature. This curatorial text was written for the exhibition Estiaje, held in July 2024 at Saladentro in the city of Cuenca (Ecuador), and at Casa del Barrio gallery in Guayaquil (Ecuador) during the months of August and September of the same year.
