Effect of Bioway® on the fertility of an Inceptisol cultivated with cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.). RCTU [online]. 2024, vol.11, n.2, pp.105-111. ISSN 1390-7697. https://doi.org/10.26423/rctu.v11i2.846.
In Ecuador, cocoa is the main exportable crop, but yields are low. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of Bioway®on the chemical properties of an Inceptisol soil dedicated to intensive cocoa production. The study was conducted in the greenhouse belonging to the soil laboratory of the Universidad Tecnológica Equinoccial in Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas. In a completely randomized block design, with ten replications, five doses of Bioway® (0; 2; 4; 6 and 8 t ha-1) were distributed. Yellow corn (INIAP 542) was used as indicator plant during three consecutive cycles of four weeks per cycle and soil and plant samples were collected and analyzed. The results show that the best indicators of soil fertility and corn plant growth were achieved with the application of 6 and 8 t ha-1 of Bioway®.
