Shrimp production generates sediment residues that contain organic matter (OM) and affect the culture due to the presence of pathogens. The objective of the study was to identify the diversity of bacteria in the sediment of a shrimp pond of the La Segua wetland, describing the shrimp production process, analysis of the physicochemical characteristics of the sediment taken at five points of the shrimp pond, and the recognition of the bacterial microbiota through the analysis of the taxonomic profile of the 16S region by high-throughput sequencing. The results showed that shrimp production in the La Segua wetland does not have pertinent environmental management. The MO content is high (15-21%), as well as organic carbon (3.25%), phosphorus (3.40 mg/g) and total nitrogen (0.37%) in relation to the criteria values considered. Thirteen groups of bacteria were recorded, highlighting the supergroup of uncultured bacteria (73.24%), Terrabacteria (7%) and Pseudomonadota (7%).
