Este análisis pretende desentrañar tanto las razones de esa política como los instrumentos para llevarla a cabo. Para ello, se emplea como marco teórico la zona gris, mediante una apuesta metodológica basada en distinguirla de las guerras híbridas, mientras que lo sucedido en las Senkaku opera como estudio de caso. La principal conclusión es que los Estados que emplean las zonas grises disponen de algo tan importante como es la iniciativa estratégica, lo cual genera un fuerte desgaste en los defensores del statu quo, incluso aunque a corto plazo no alcancen los objetivos trazados.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Chinese actions in the homonymous sea are increasingly assertive, but they are generated without any casus belli. This analysis aims to unravel both the reasons for this policy, and the instruments to carry it out. For this, the gray zone approach is used as a theoretical framework, through a methodological commitment based on its distinction from hybrid wars, while what happened in the Senkaku islands operates as a case study. The main conclusion is that the states that use the gray zone have something as important as the strategic initiative, which generates strong wear on the defenders of the status quo, even if in short term does not reach all of the proposedobjectives.]]></p></abstract>

Para isso, a abordagem da zona cinza é utilizada como referencial teórico, através de umcompromisso metodológico baseadonadistinção de guerras híbridas, enquanto o que aconteceunasilhasSenkaku funciona como umestudo de caso.
