Abstract

Objective: to characterize COVID-19 clinically and epidemiologically in adolescents diagnosed in the Chota Province, Cajamarca region, Peru, between April 14, 2020 and September 30, 2021. Material and methods: A non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional study was developed, taking data from 254 adolescents diagnosed with COVID-19 in the context above. Results: The following epidemiological characteristics predominated: age group of 15 to 17 years (68.9%), female gender (65%), and residence in an urban sector (65.7%); while among the clinics, they were home isolation (96.1%), not requiring hospitalization for treatment (84.1%), hospitalization time from 1 to 7 days (85.2%), manifestation of symptoms (72, 8%) and favorable evolution (85.8%). Conclusion: Most participants presented symptoms, highlighting cough, headache, general malaise, sore throat, and fever.
