Reading competence is fundamental in education, especially in the digital age, where information is presented in a diverse and dynamic ways. The integration of innovative strategies and educational technologies is crucial to enhancing reading proficiency in this ever-evolving digital environment. In this context, the aim of the study was to conduct a critical analysis of innovative strategies and educational technologies used to improve reading proficiency in the current educational scenario, through a systematic literature review using PRISMA method. A total of 130 relevant articles on this topic was selected. The review results identify trends and innovative practices beneficial to educators and educational program designers. However, there are still challenges to overcome, requiring continuous effort from teachers and educational institutions.
