Abstract
ROJO GUTIERREZ, Marco Antonio and PADILLA-OVIEDO, Andrés. From ideas to new ideas: a conceptual approach to the innovation process. RCUISRAEL [online]. 2018, vol.5, n.3, pp.9-22. Epub Dec 06, 2018. ISSN 2631-2786. https://doi.org/10.35290/rcui.v5n3.2018.74.
Innovation is a complex phenomenon. The present paper provides a clear and simple way to explain innovation. The innovation concept is used as a synonym of other concepts which creates confusion of its meaning. Moreover, this confusion creates systematic and methodological problems. Innovation starts with an idea. The idea is based on the individual who creates it and he or she is the principal agent. Then, innovation becomes complex as multiple agents such as universities, companies, government, society, environment, etc. become part of the innovation process. The concepts of idea, knowledge, technology and intervention are essential before the innovation concept can be examined. As we move from one concept to another, the agents involved in the innovation process are also different and methodologically we go from an individual, linear and isolated treatment to a social, systematic and global treatment of innovation. The individual is the only agent with the capacity to gene- rate ideas. Thus, an appeal is made not to diminish the importance of the individual over the company in the innovation process.
