UVIDIA-FASSLER, María Isabel; CISNEROS-BARAHONA, Andrés; MENDEZ-NARANJO, Pablo y VILLA-YANEZ, Henry. Factors of the emerging online learning modality affecting Ecuador's higher education system. Novasinergia [online]. 2024, vol.7, n.2, pp.87-114. Epub 02-Jul-2024. ISSN 2631-2654. https://doi.org/10.37135/ns.01.14.06.
The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted higher education, forcing a rapid transition from face-to-face modality to the emerging online learning modality. This transition exposed several challenges, including, inequitable access to technology, global health and economic crisis, and specific difficulties faced by both teachers and students in Ecuador. Knowledge discovery in KDD - Educational databases, the analysis of classification and clustering data mining techniques and the complement of data analysis with business intelligence determined the factors from the perspective of the institution, teachers and students that influence the online education process. In addition, the importance of the education model, the teaching-learning process methodology, the learning environment, and the well-being of teachers and students that guarantee quality online higher education with equal access opportunities is demonstrated.
