Abstract

ORTIZ, Alvaro. Analysis of the noise factor in military aeronautical maintenance activities. Novasinergia [online]. 2021, vol.4, n.2, pp.78-92.  Epub Dec 01, 2021. ISSN 2631-2654.  https://doi.org/10.37135/ns.01.08.05.

Abstract: Noise is the most important risk factor to which military aeronautical maintenance personnel is subjected. Therefore, it is necessary to verify whether this factor is within the limit established in the regulations. Noise measurements were taken at the Ecuadorian Air Bases of Salinas, Guayaquil, Taura, Manta, and Cotopaxi. The measured values were contrasted with the limits of 85 dB for operational work and 70 dB for those involving higher concentrations, then ANOVA and Tukey tests were applied to verify the relationship between sound pressure levels LAeqD, type of aircraft, and location or activity. According to the results, 93 dB, 105 dB, and 91 dB were reached in turboprop, supersonic, and transport aircraft, respectively, mainly in aircraft dispatch. Although 34.72% of the points exceeded 70 dB and 19.44% exceeded 85 dB, the respective works do not involve a high concentration. They can be reduced with hearing protection elements. Therefore, according to the statistical analysis, it is possible to assert that the noise levels depend on the place or maintenance activity, but not on the type of aircraft.
