Abstract

PUENTE CARRERA, Pablo Marcelo; ESPARZA ENCALADA, Darwin José  and  MORA MUNOZ, Elsa Sulay. Conventional technical characteristics for work clothes to mitigate the risks in the Ecuadorian context. Novasinergia [online]. 2019, vol.2, n.2, pp.84-93.  Epub Dec 10, 2019. ISSN 2631-2654.  https://doi.org/10.37135/unach.ns.001.04.09.

The best way to prevent occupational risks is to eliminate or control them at their source of origin, when this is not possible, it is required to provide workers with protective clothing or personal protection devices. This investigation determined the general characteristics that work clothes must meet, to mitigate occupational risk, considering the classification of risk factors established in our legislation, the norms on the design, confection and factors that influence the quality of work clothes; finally establishing that not all risks can be mitigated with work clothes and that national and international standards need to be updated to the news materials developed and used in the textile industry and that the quality of work clothes depends on four factors: the composition of the thread that determines almost all the attributes of the textile, the type of fabric, the textile finish and garment.

Keywords : Quality factors; design and dressmaking standards; occupational risk; work clothes.
