Abstract

PAREDES-VEGA, Gabriela; HERRERA, Rodrigo F.  and  GOMEZ, Miguel A.. Use of factors of sustainability for decision making in low-volume road projects. Novasinergia [online]. 2019, vol.2, n.2, pp.38-48.  Epub Dec 10, 2019. ISSN 2631-2654.  https://doi.org/10.37135/unach.ns.001.04.04.

Civil engineering projects contribute to progress and improve people life quality, but also generate nature and environmental destruction. Due to this, the use of factors and indicators to measure the entire lifecycle project sustainability has become necessary, considering that every stage of a project produces social, economic and environmental impacts. In addition, it gets essential for those responsible for determining and allocating the public resources of the projects to be executed, to prioritize the projects according to objective criteria, and considering sustainable factors. This study aims to identify a set of sustainable criteria that could contribute in the decision-making process to evaluate and prioritize low-volume road projects. In order to do this, information related to sustainability indicators, used in literature and by international methodologies has been compiled. A questionnaire and interviews have been carried out to recognize the opinion of experts about the relevance and measurement feasibility of each criteria. As a result, a selection of the most relevant and easy to measure criteria is obtained, according to experts, a statistical validation is performed. It is expected that the criteria list contributes and can be used as a tool to consider the sustainability in integral ways generating objective-criteria based on road project evaluation.
