Abstract

The objectives of the investigation are determining levels of air pollution, water and soil and to evaluate its effects on crop productivity in the neighborhood La Morita, La Tola, El Arenal, La Esperanza, and Collaquí located in the parish Tumbaco. A field survey was conducted to identify areas, crop types and social stakeholders. It was investigated and evaluated the environmental quality of the area by determining the quality of water, air and soil. Comparison of the data obtained in the laboratory with the quality limits of current environmental regulations for agricultural use and effects of environmental quality was determined in decreasing agricultural productivity in the study area. It is observed that there are concentrations of Boron and Fecal coliform exceeding permissible limits by the standard of irrigation water that can affect certain types of products, Creeping crops such as strawberries and vegetables should be banned. Levels of air quality except Sediment concentrations in the sectors of Esperanza and Collaquí are within the norm. There is presence of concentrations of Copper, Mercury, Vanadium, Zinc in the soil of the study area by the use of pesticides and organic fertilizers that not had a significant impact on reducing agricultural productivity in the study area.
