Abstract

GONZALEZ, Catherine Valencia. Industrial exports from Colombia to Chile: approach from the firms. Podium [online]. 2023, n.43, pp.57-72. ISSN 2588-0969.  https://doi.org/10.31095/podium.2023.43.4.

This study aimed to identify the Colombian industrial firms that are the largest exporters to Chile. Using a hierarchy methodology of FOB values, by firms, industrial activities, and primary exported goods, out of 2,709 firms, 20 of them combine for 60% of the total exports in the period from 2015 - 2019, with data obtained from Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística de Colombia - DANE. The most highly represented industrial activity is mining, with a concentration of 74%, mainly in goods such as coal. The remaining 26% is made up of other activities, such as agro-industrial; (sugar, margarine, and candy), the automotive industry; (vehicles), hygiene; (personal care and makeup), plastics; (mainly packaging), activities related to electricity, (different types of collectors), and pharmaceutical chemistry, (medicines). Of the leading exporters, it is possible to recognize that they are foreign multinationals, mainly of United States origin.
