GOMEZ GARCIA, Antonio Ramón; SALAZAR, Pamela Merino; ESPINOZA SAMANIEGO, César Eduardo e CAJIAS VASCO, Paul Enrique. Survey on Safety and Health at Work in Quito: occupational accidents. Podium [online]. 2018, n.33, pp.25-34. ISSN 2588-0969. https://doi.org/10.31095/podium.2018.33.3.
This article purports to describe occupational accident profiles from a socio-demographic and labor perspective through the results of the First Occupational Health and Safety Conditions Survey conducted in Quito, Ecuador. Work accident variables included in the occupational health dimension are analyzed from the descriptive and inferential viewpoint (chi-square). Of the workers surveyed, 13%, mainly men between 25 and 55, with more than nine years in the company, reported to have suffered an accident at work during the last year. Agriculture, livestock work, forestry and fishing are the economic activities with more occupational accidents. Men over 35 have the greatest accidents recidivism. Results of this first study show the need to formulate new occupational safety and health policies.
