As the pandemic continues, many communities in Santa Elena Province have changed their form of communication and have modified their interaction with the population. This is the case of the comunas de Olón and Cadeate where their communication includes new technologies as a means of disseminating information to citizens. Currently they interact between “La voz de los techos”, Whatsapp and Facebook, where they send and share topics of community interest. These communication tools interact and that is where media ecology explains how they adapt to the new ecosystem to survive. Gradually, the communities have been incorporating new digital tools. The benefits offered by new technologies for community communication are necessary for a transformation that helps not only economically, but culturally, educationally and socially.
