Abstract

CARDELLA, Sebastián Nicolás. The visual production of Daniel Santoro: a reading in a neo-baroque and lezamian key. Ñawi [online]. 2022, vol.6, n.1, pp.99-116. ISSN 2588-0934.  https://doi.org/10.37785/nw.v6n1.a5.

In recent years, the production of argentine plastic artist Daniel Santoro has been gaining more and more resonance at the national level, particularly due to its approach to one of the most unique political phenomena in the country’s history: Peronism. This work analyzes such production, but it does so following the guidelines developed by the cuban writer José Lezama Lima, those that were the product of his recovery and recreation of the american baroque and that place the image at the center of the scene. Therefore, the article shows, first, the potential of these guidelines to establish themselves as a neo-baroque method of reading, which opens the possibility of thinking about a hermeneutic of Latin American nature. Second, how the images of Santoro can be read in a lezamian key, and consequently, the way in which this reveals a new historical vision of Peronism.

Keywords : Hermeneutic; metaphorical image; lezama lima; reading machine; peronism.
