Abstract

FUENTE, Ángel Alonso de la. About a possible film criticism with regard to an anesthetized gaze. Ñawi [online]. 2022, vol.6, n.1, pp.41-56. ISSN 2588-0934.  https://doi.org/10.37785/nw.v6n1.a2.

At present, film criticism faces a challenge: the contemporary gaze is gripped and saturated by continuous exposure to an infinity of images. In order to deal with this circumstance, a critical perspective of an untimely nature is necessary to dialogue with the different images, vindicating, as Agamben writes, an outdated relationship with the present time. This article explores the possibility that cinema is still a medium capable of articulating a sensible distribution of this growing inflation of images. Critics will be in charge of exploring this path through a micrology around the shot like the one Serge Daney did around the Straub’s cinema. A path that asumes what Peter Sloterdijk calls a priori pain, that is, the burn that images can cause on us.
