This article presents an overview of the critical writings that the Argentine academic system elaborated on the relationships between the conceptions of social margins and Argentine fiction cinema. The impact of the economic, social and institutional crisis that erupted in 2001 generated the need to ask ourselves about the ways in which the cinema established a dialogue with the crisis. This initial question persisted in the academic field until today. Therefore, this article delimits a series of ideas and perceptions that the relationship between looks and critical writings built with some works over time. The article gives rise to the links between aesthetics and precariousness, the representation of urban social spaces marked by material and symbolic poverty and the emergence of cinematographic authors from the social margins.
