Abstract

IBANEZ DE GAUNA, Concepción Elorza. About the use of photography in Guía de descampados de la Ría de Bilbao by Lara Almarcegui and Ghost Box by Itziar Okariz. Ñawi [online]. 2017, vol.1, n.1, pp.73-86. ISSN 2588-0934.  https://doi.org/10.37785/nw.v1n1.a4.

An important part of contemporary artistic production that uses photography employs it in a way whose origin could be linked to the conceptual practices of the sixties and seventies, in which the image was finally the witness to a whole process. Thus, in the works we will analyze, the artists lead us to go beyond the photographic images by means of other elements and information that reshape our reading of the recorded spaces. Lara Almarcegui explores the standardized use of the territory; Itziar Okariz individual and collective identities and the possibility to deconstruct them by means of performative acts. These are some of the issues that constitute the main reflection focal points in this text.

Keywords : Contemporary art that uses Photography; Spaces: implications; Performativity; Private/public..
