AGUILERA VITA, Sergio. Approaches to the cinema thinking with Merleau-Ponty and Godard. Ñawi [online]. 2017, vol.1, n.1, pp.31-44. ISSN 2588-0934. https://doi.org/10.37785/nw.v1n1.a2.
This study asks if it is possible to think in pictures. Specifically, if the film can be a way of thinking or not. The French director of the Nouvelle Vague, Jean-Luc Godard, thinks so. In fact, his films are closer to the philosophy of storytelling. Merleau-Ponty, frequent interlocutor of Godard’s work, has also been asked himself about the film. He believes it is an indirect way of doing ontology, like science, painting or literature. The article will argue that from the phenomenology of perception proposed by the philosopher may be better understood a thought made from motion pictures.
