NARVAEZ-GARAY, Maryuri y LEON-ALBERCA, Tatiana. LEARNING AND KNOWLEDGE TECHNOLOGIES IN THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY. Revista Chakiñan [online]. 2024, n.24, pp.110-129. ISSN 2550-6722. https://doi.org/10.37135/chk.002.24.06.
Technology has transformed the way of living and learning by effectively promoting the imperative integration of Learning and Knowledge Technologies (LKT). This study aimed to analyze the use of ICT to enhance the teaching and learning process for students in the Pedagogy of Experimental Sciences, Chemistry, and Biology at the National University of Loja. To this end, a mixed-method approach was used. This approach involved student surveys, teacher interviews, and supplementary interviews with educational technology experts. The results show that ICTs act as facilitating tools which make learning more engaging and motivating. They also strengthen communication between teachers and students in order to personalize teaching. It was shown that ICTs play an essential role in the educational context by significantly contributing to planning through the implementation of techniques and strategies. However, experts in educational technologies emphasize the need to socialize and train all teachers to mitigate resistance to change and encourage educational innovation. It is important to consider the digital divide as a limitation that may hinder the effective implementation of these technologies.
