Abstract

QUICHIMBO, Fausto. REVITALIZATION OF NATIVE LANGUAGES: REFLECTIONS FROM THE NARRATIVES OF SOME BILINGUAL INTERCULTURAL TEACHERS. Revista Chakiñan [online]. 2022, n.18, pp.65-79. ISSN 2550-6722.  https://doi.org/10.37135/chk.002.18.04.

The article presents an analysis of the importance of revitalizing the native language of the peoples and nationalities of Ecuador. The objective of the study was to identify the different educational strategies implemented by bilingual intercultural educators in the classroom. The study was carried out under a qualitative approach of a hermeneutic nature, applying the autoethnographic and biographical-narrative methods based on the analysis of the experience’s systematization work, carried out by the participants of the teaching professionalization program of the University of Cuenca. The main finding revolves around the problem of the loss of linguistic diversity, as well as the educational strategies used for its revitalization processes. The planning of comprehensive processes of language learning in multilingual contexts is highlighted, through the implementation of different educational strategies, related to the knowledge and ancestral wisdom of their nationality. Also, the need for language teaching focused on the development of oral and written expression; and the sociocultural context to strengthen Bilingual Intercultural Education within the framework of the Bilingual Intercultural Education System Model.
