Abstract
RUPERTI-LUCERO, Erika; ESPINEL-GUADALUPE, Johana; NARANJO-CABRERA, Carlos and AGUILAR-PITA, Diana. CONCILIATION OF FAMILY LIFE AND LABOR WELFARE, ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL ROLES AND GENDER IN TIMES OF COVID-19. THE ECUADORIAN CASE. Revista Chakiñan [online]. 2021, n.15, pp.18-30. When the confinement began due to the presence of Covid-19, homes in Ecuador became workplaces. In this connection, the present study aims to characterize family life, and labor welfare based on the coping styles happening in the current context through a quantitative study. Data were collected through an online form. A Socio-demographic Questionnaire referred to as Confinement by Covid-19, and the Coping Strategies Questionnaire (CAE) were used. 258 individuals participated (65.9% women, and 34.1% men). The results show important characteristics of the reconciliation of family life-labor welfare. Furthermore, the time spent at home with children, and the adaptation to telework do not reveal a balance between the variables of roles and gender. Participants with less adaptation to telework present avoidant coping (r = - 140; p = 0.024), whilst participants in total dedication (home and work) exceed the established hours, and exhibit styles focused on the Solution (r = 0.155; p = 0.013), on the Religion (r = - 0.189; p = 0.002), and on the Avoidance (r = 0.187; p = 0.003).
