Abstract

ANDRADE-MARTINEZ, César; CASTILLO-YEPEZ, Carlos  and  SUING, Abel. THE UNIVERSITY RADIOS IN LATIN AMERICA: THE ECUADORIAN CASE. Revista Chakiñan [online]. 2020, n.12, pp.66-80. ISSN 2550-6722.  https://doi.org/10.37135/chk.002.12.04.

The university radio in Latin America has brought the academy closer to society through speech and sound. Its consolidation is still under development but with promising results today. This research presents the emergence of university radio in Latin America, its function, and the current panorama of university radios in Ecuador. A qualitativemethodology, with descriptive and explanatory design, was employed in addition to a hermeneutical bibliographic review of previous studies, data analysis, and non-participant observation. The obtained results show the growth of this media, exposed in the first map of Ecuadorian university radios, and how higher education centers utilize the radio as a tool in the teaching-learning processes.

Keywords : University radio; higher education; digital communication; Latin America.
