Given the problem of inclusion of design in the productive processes of the artisan sectors in the province of Tungurahua, or a sporadic presence from non-professional services, the search for improvement in processes and an approach to innovation and development of new products through design management becomes necessary, therefore, the purpose of the investigation focuses on establishing a vision of development of the artisan sector based on the integration of the value of design as a potential manager of innovation and creativity to promote the products improvement process and access to markets. Through case studies as a method for understanding the environment and the object of study, the areas of design, craft entrepreneurship, academia and public institutions are analyzed to establish links between strategic productive sectors. The results show a sector with structural and quality endemic problems, but, with a great creative, cultural and synergy potential through clusters that allow to establish actions where design works for the development of projects in different areas of the discipline for its integration into textile, furniture, leather and footwear environments; seen from the perspective of the Cultural and Creative Industry [CCI].
