DE LA CRUZ-PINA, Jéssica-María; FERRERO-RONDA, Reynold; RIVAS-NUILA, José Ricardo  and  CRUZ-AGUILERA, Nolberto. Wellness tourism as a growing segment: a look from bibliometric studies. ReHuSo [online]. 2023, vol.8, n.1, pp.98-112.  Epub May 05, 2023. ISSN 2550-6587.  https://doi.org/10.33936/rehuso.v8i1.5080.

In recent years, wellness tourism has become an industry of great economic development worldwide. Currently, the number of people seeking a healthy lifestyle has increased, leading to the growth of trips that include these experiences. In this sense, it is of vital importance to know its evolution from the literature on the subject. The aim of this study was to analyze the scientific production of wellness tourism during the years 2000-2020, published in the databases Dimensions, Science Direct and Scielo. For this purpose, 283 articles related to wellness tourism were selected. The information obtained was processed using Endnote X9, Bibexcel, Excel and VOSviewer software. From this, a growing interest in this construct was observed, mainly in the last seven years, with 2020 standing out as the year with the highest productivity. The articles analyzed were signed by a total of 499 different authors and published in 136 journals. The United States was the most productive country according to the authors' institutions. Melanie Kay Smith was the leading author of the research and the journal Tourism Management stood out as the most productive with 19 publications. The results obtained show the importance that the topic has attained in the academic literature on tourism, especially in the field of health and tourist destinations; and it is also expected that future research on the topic will grow.
