BRAVO RAMOS, María José. Importance of archives and libraries in the strategic planning of Ecuadorian universities. ReHuSo [online]. 2023, vol.8, n.1, pp.80-97. Epub 05-Abr-2023. ISSN 2550-6587. https://doi.org/10.33936/rehuso.v8i1.4738.
Strategic planning plays a key role in the sustainable development of public and private universities. In the case of Ecuador, they must comply with various requirements of the Council for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (CACES), one of them is the proper management of libraries and archives. The objective of the study was to understand the importance of the archives and libraries in the strategic planning of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in Ecuador. The methodological basis is determined by descriptive quantitative research. A total of 64 HEI was analyzed based on specific observation criteria. The 87.5% of the institutions have a strategic plan established and/or under development, 56.25% of HEI mention libraries in this organizational management tool and 19% of HEI refer to archive Also, the priorities identified in the analyzed plans are the following: document management, policy development, allocation of resources and budgets, use and updating of libraries with technology and knowledge, and training and socialization. Therefore, strategic planning should be established as a key process within administrative and/or academic management in enterprises, including libraries and archives.
