Abstract

ARANIBAR RAMOS, Edgar Romario  and  PATINO HUAYHUA, Antony Jonny. Tourism, a Path for Sustainability: A view to the Peruvian Titikaka Lake. ReHuSo [online]. 2022, vol.7, n.3, pp.46-62.  Epub Dec 05, 2022. ISSN 2550-6587.  https://doi.org/10.33936/rehuso.v7i3.5150.

Tourism is a means of generating wealth, opportunities, and growth through contact between different populations and communities. Thereby, it is proposed to analyze the viability of tourism activity as a course of sustainability in the Peruvian Lake Titicaca. To do this, a quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental methodology was applied, from which 57 sources were obtained through literature review in academic sources, mainly SCOPUS and state sources, which allowed an analysis under 6 resulting themes from the Sustainable Development Goals: economics, health, education, gender, environment and social. Thus, the economic importance of tourism and the need to implement adequate tourism policies, the strong points for mental health and the need to address sexual education in communities and tourists, the implication of international students and universities for the formation of knowledge formal education and the opportunity to generate soft and hard skills in tourism, the role of gender equity for sustainability and the participation of both genders due to their family relationship, and the social process of cultural revaluation and the need for involvement in decision-making of community residents were perceived. In addition, it is recommended to continue with the research on the subject in points related to the thoughts of the inhabitants towards tourism and development, as well as the relations between the student tourist and the communities.
