Social representations in the face of the social development of any country constitute a matter of vital importance, as they favor or limit the performance of its citizens due to positive or negative conceptions about the reality of a certain area of ​​life in their country, especially, when it comes to professional matters. Education and its professionals need to pay special attention to this issue because students are part of an environment of influences in which the family, the community, their friends are intertwined, and each one of them with diverse experiences that could generate contradictions. in the way of perceiving the same phenomenon. Therefore, the objective of this article is to carry out a theoretical review of different investigations and studies that have addressed the subject to analyze the impact of social representations on the personality and performance of students, especially those who are close to defining their professional future at university.
