MUNOZ CUCHCA, Edward  y  SOLIS TRUJILLO, Beymar Pedro. Qualitative and Quantitative Approach to Formative Evaluation. ReHuSo [online]. 2021, vol.6, n.3, pp.1-16.  Epub 01-Dic-2021. ISSN 2550-6587.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5512591.

With the emergence of the formative evaluation, qualitative aspects are emphasized to improve the learning and teaching process. The problem appears when in theory, the limitations of quantitative evaluation and the benefits of qualitative evaluation are highlighted. However; in educational practice we observe that quantitative or summative evaluation persists in the way that it was understood from the beginning. Through the knowledge of the multiple aspects of the evaluation process, this kind of dichotomy between quantitative and qualitative, leads to propose an integration of them both. In this sense, the aim of this study is describing and understanding the characteristics of the quantitative and qualitative approach to let their integration within the framework of a formative evaluation. The bibliographic review was used to consolidate the information in the present article which was extracted using the SCOPUS and EBSCO search engines. The information found was obtained from an exclusion and inclusion criterion, selecting the information related with the keywords. Among the main findings, we find information related to the quantitative evaluation that is integrated into the formative evaluation, resulting in a mixed evaluation. Therefore, the most important conclusion is related to the real possibility to achieve the integration of the quantitative and qualitative aspects within the framework of a formative evaluation. Quantification is important just in the way that goes joined with a description and interpretation that allows educational actors taking better decisions to improve the learning and teaching process. This is the most important contribution of the study.
