Abstract The objective of this study was to determine if there is a relationship between family climate and academic performance in fifth year high school students from Lima Peru. The design used was descriptive and correlational. The sample consisted of 300 fifth-year high school students, aged between 16 and 17 years old, belonging to 04 private and state educational institutions in Lima-Peru. The family social climate scale (FES) was used and academic qualifications were obtained, through 2018 evaluation certificates of the participants. The results indicated that there is a direct and significant relationship between the family climate and its dimensions with the academic performance of students in the fifth year of secondary school in Lima, Peru; On the other hand, the descriptive results revealed that in the total sample the highest prevalence of the levels of family climate were medium (56%), in addition it is observed that 67% of the students have an academic performance in predicted achievement. Finally, the theoretical and practical scope of the research were discussed based on the findings obtained.
