Abstract
OLIVARES-RODRIGUEZ, Cristian; VALDES-LEON, Gabriel and VIDAL-SEPULVEDA, Martha. Influence of the media agenda on information searches: An experience with university students. ReHuSo [online]. 2021, vol.6, n.2, pp.19-32. Epub Aug 01, 2021. ISSN 2550-6587. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5510737.
Abstract The objective of this article is to contrast the process of searching and preparing answers to two research problems on the web: the first, designed from a media theme, while the second, elaborated on a topic that lacks such characteristic. The research design corresponds to a case study, of a pre-experimental nature, in which 61 first-year university students participated. Using the GoNSA2 platform, it was possible to obtain information that describes the student search process and the answers provided for each research task. Subsequently, with the help of the Iramuteq software, a lexical analysis was performed with the data collected in each of these instances. The main finding corresponds to the influence of the media agenda on search behavior, the development of solutions and the diversity of search results. Consequently, it is necessary to empower digital citizens in critical skills that allow them to become aware of the influence of the media both in their search strategies and in the availability of information on the web.
