PALMA PALMA, Pierina; BENAVIDES, Jeovanny y SALTOS, Lila María. Bibliographic formats in the drafting of scientific texts. ReHuSo [online]. 2020, vol.5, n.3, pp.62-71. Epub 02-Dic-2020. ISSN 2550-6587. https://doi.org/10.33936/rehuso.v5i3.2668.
Abstract Bibliographic formats are essential in scientific writing because they determine the style in which bibliographic references will be used in a given document. The function of this type of format is to standardize information, so that it is known beforehand what style is to be used in a particular academic genre, be it essay, article, review or book. Typically, those who determine what type of format goes in a text are the journal or publisher where the document will be published. There are hundreds of styles of citation and referencing; among the most important are the following rules: Apa, Harvard, Vancouver, Chicago, Turabian, among others. Throughout this document, the importance of bibliographic formats in academic and scientific writing will be explained. While there is a tendency to choose a unique style for writing documents, the diversification of standards has enriched specialized publications. No rule is more important than another, but acts in the texts to bring coherence to the entire document that is published.
