This article aims to analyze didactic strategies based on Whatsapp as a tool to promote collaborative learning in educational processes in the June 5 Educational Unit of the city of Manta, Manabí, Ecuador. From a conceptual and theoretical framework, such as the trend that fosters the new educational paradigm: mobile learning. An investigation was conducted using the descriptive method, combined with a documentary review. Data collection was carried out through a survey of students. Empirical study shows that the social network Whatsapp is a tool used by students, in a few cases, for the educational activities of the home and in others, for family relations; however, it has been shown that the researches give little educational value to the tool, since they consider it only as a means of distracting students; it is also revealed that there are adverse situations for optimal use of this technological tool and lies in the problems of communication between students to organize themselves, and weaknesses in the exercise of leadership, But a positive aspect to consider is that connectivity is not the biggest obstacle when it comes to using this tool.
