The informational competences are increasingly necessary for the constitution of an own knowledge providing a critical reading to the available contents. In this area, this research aims to analyze the contribution of information literacy to the development of critical thinking of the students of the Nueva Paquisha school in Rocafuerte canton, province of Manabí, Ecuador. An empirical study was carried out with the children of middle school education to whom a survey was applied, the results of which demonstrate the use of techniques for information search, use of information literacy and their levels of preference at the time of data search. For some academic matter, the existence of informational skills for the search for information on the Internet is inferred, on the other hand, a knowledge and assessment of information literacy is collated to enhance criticality in the expression of ideas by students. It is concluded that the students through the various pages of consultation can discern what kind of sources offer better content and how to use those contents in the context of their schoolwork.
