Abstract

GARCIA ALCIVAR, María Eugenia  and  VEGAS MELENDEZ, Hilarión. The importance of comprehensive training in the processes of inclusion of students with cognitive disabilities. ReHuSo [online]. 2019, vol.4, n.2, pp.53-65.  Epub Aug 02, 2019. ISSN 2550-6587.  https://doi.org/10.33936/rehuso.v4i2.2132.

Professional teacher development is one of the most relevant fields of study to try to increase aspects such as inclusive education in students with cognitive disabilities. Educational inclusion is a complex process that can be better understood if one considers that the attitudes of the entire educational community, in particular the attitudes of teachers, are key to addressing the diversity of pupils. In order to achieve quality education for all in inclusive contexts, it is important that teachers have positive attitudes towards inclusiveness and inclusive education, recognize difference and diversity as values of school and education and understand that students are part of the educational context. Currently, there are a variety of strategies that teachers can use in their classes to respond to their pupils based on their characteristics and abilities and to achieve their full inclusion in the classroom and in the school context, such as organisational strategies, didactic strategies, adaptation of activities, resources and types of student groupings. The study presented below presents a particular look at this type of process.
