Critical thinking is a reflexive activity, because it analyzes the well founded results of its own reflection as those of others' reflection. It is also the ability of man to question his own thinking and that of others. In this study it is assumed that this is a thought totally oriented to action. It always appears in a context of problem solving and in interaction with other people, more in terms of understanding the nature of the problems than in proposing solutions. In addition, the evaluation of prior information and knowledge underpins decision making in different areas of human endeavour, considering that our behaviors and actions are based on what we believe and what we decide to do. So critical thinking must be encouraged and its competencies must be taught explicitly and intentionally, identifying which ones are, when each is most useful, and how they can be used. In this sense, the purpose of this work is to identify some of the most relevant definitions of this type of thinking, to value the contribution of the different methodological strategies of teaching-learning and address some of the application models in classrooms. This is intended to motivate the improvement of the competence of critical thinking.
