The management of information and knowledge, as well as the members that participate in this process exist since the formation of social groups in humanity. The human being to communicate used different techniques to record, exchange, transmit, share events by appreciations of their work and way of life. This allowed somehow to manage information and generate knowledge, although with certain changes that include collecting and storing data. As time goes by, new forms of exchange for human development appear. Currently, with the use of Information and Communication Technologies, management is assumed as the processes and actions of detection, selection, organization, filtering, presentation and use of information by the actors of an organization through of all available resources. The research was carried out at the Daniel López educational institution of the Jipijapa canton in the province of Manabí, Ecuador and inquired about the importance of information and knowledge management in order to strengthen through the use of innovative training strategies. Qualitative and quantitative research was used where empirical evidence data taken from a survey was obtained and in the analysis it is argued that this type of management is decisive for school effectiveness, allowing to improve life in schools, being its significant management within any institution, representing that transmission of information and skills among those involved a safe advance. It reflects on the benefit of knowledge management in educational institutions to face the changes of modernity, from the training potential, autonomy and active participation of its protagonists.
