A descriptive study was carried out, whose objective is to determine the informational behavior that the students have in relation to the sculptures placed in the different spaces of the faculties and areas that make up the Technical University of Manabí. The method of documentary analysis was used in the characterization of the sculptures. A questionnaire was applied to a sample of 300 students, representing the different faculties of the Portoviejo campus, to inquire about the need, access, evaluation and use of the information that comes from the dignified characters. The Statgraphics Centurion software was used in the analysis of the data. As results, a poor knowledge of the meaning of the works and what they represent stands out. As conclusions, it is suggested to work from the university library in an informational literacy program that considers these works as an alternative that promotes the cultural development of the students in the university.
