The education of the new generations depends to a large extent on their teachers. Therefore, it is necessary to understand what motivates them and gives them satisfaction in their daily work. The objective of this research was to identify the professional satisfaction of the Initial Education teacher in the provinces of Cañar and Azuay, Ecuador. The study was of a descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional type and was developed in the period October-December 2020. The sampling was for convenience and included 96 Initial Education teachers who gave their consent to participate. The technique used was the survey, which was applied through a questionnaire, requiring personal characteristics such as: gender, age, years of experience as an Initial Education teacher, type of institution and area where they work, whether or not they have a third level degree, as well as questions about economic remuneration, the social perception of the profession, the importance of the educational level and the importance of the educational level at the governmental level. To demonstrate the consistency of the results, descriptive statistics have been used and the Mann Whitney U test was used for the comparison analysis of two independent samples. Resulting that 88.5% of the Initial education teachers in the provinces of Cañar and Azuay, participants in the study, are moderately satisfied and that there is a significant difference between the professional satisfaction of the Initial Education teachers who have a third level degree and those who don't.
